What is Linux Singapore

Linux Singapore, as the name implies is the place to turn to when you want to find out the state of things in Linux in Singapore.

Why is there even a need for a regional (or country) Linux portal?  Well, for one, even in this global village, there are many things that
are specific to a country or region.  For example:

  1. Hardware commonly available and popular here, for example, may not be available in other parts of the world.
  2. Linux is about services. Installation, maintenance and training services to begin with.  The best are often small, local boutique consultancies, so it wouldn't make sense for them to be featured globally.
  3. We assemble great hardware offers for local delivery. All hardware featured is known to run at least RHEL, Fedora and SLES/SLED - since those are the distros we run.
  4. Ez-Link, ERP, accessing local banking websites - these are all the challenges that we've faced over the years using Linux on the Enterprise Desktop in Singapore. We share what we've learnt and how to work around those things that have no elegant solutions.

We  especially like to feature success stories (send us yours!) in terms of Linux implementations, especially those that take place in Singapore and the surrounding region.
